Global Battlestaff Support
SRA International Inc. has won an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity global battlestaff and program support contract from the USSOCOM at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla. The multi-award contract has an estimated value of $1.5 billion over five years, if all options are exercised.
USSOCOM’s mission is to provide fully capable special operations forces that will defend the United States and its interests, and synchronize planning of global operations against terrorist networks. SRA will provide global special operations-unique services and expertise to support the USSOCOM in three functional areas: operations and intelligence, acquisition and logistics, and financial management and business operations.
“The SRA team looks forward to continuing its longstanding partnership with SOCOM,” said SRA senior vice president national security sector Gordy McElroy. “SRA is fully committed to supporting their mission and providing high quality services to our nation’s warriors, who serve at the tip of the spear every day around the globe, protecting America’s vital interests.”
The SRA team includes major subcontractor General Dynamics Information Technology, an operating company of General Dynamics.
Ammo Contract
Alliant Techsystems has received orders totaling $372 million to produce 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm and .50-caliber ammunition for the U.S. Army Contracting Command in Rock Island, Ill. This is the first significant order in the second year of a four-year contract, with additional orders expected during this fiscal year. ATK operates the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (LCAAP) in Independence, Mo., where the rounds will be produced.
During the 10 years it has operated the plant, ATK has delivered more than 10 billion rounds of ammunition to the U.S. Army for use by all the military services, while successfully executing a $242 million modernization project to ensure the LCAAP remains a viable national asset.
“ATK has demonstrated the capability to support the tremendous increase in demand, while in parallel, modernizing the facility,” said Mark Hissong, vice president and general manager of ATK small caliber systems. “Our daily focus on continuous improvement in all of our processes has resulted in the world’s best small caliber ammunition and a facility that will support the warfighter for years to come.” ♦
