Multimission Grenade
Bazalt again makes TechIntell with what they describe as a jet multimission grenade. Capable of carrying either a high explosive or thermobarbic warhead, it seems that a primary mission of the rocket is for breaching purposes of walls and barriers. The description that SOTECH has seen describes the lateral explosive capabilities of the warhead and its location slightly removed back from the tip of the projectile. The company describes the “after-penetration” effect after impacting a barrier and the “efficiency of destruction.”
Double-Barreled RPG
In the latest version of point-counter point, at least with regards to heavy vehicle protection and anti-vehicle rockets, is the RPG-30 from the Russian firm Bazalt. This is a one-time use weapon configured in an over-under layout.
The concept is fairly simple in that a small decoy rocket is fired from the lower tube. The idea is to decoy an active protection system into engaging the first rocket causing the APS to fire the counter munition. Meanwhile at a specified time after the launch of the first rocket would be the launch of the main 105 mm anti-tank missile from the upper tube.
According to Russian sources, most (if not all) APS must have 0.2 seconds between a countermeasure launch and a second countermeasure launch. The goal is to have the second round slip in after the first countermeasure launch—and detonate—before the launch of the second. Another rendition of the system has the first round impacting the reactive armor package of the target vehicle and detonating the plates. The second, main round follows on the same angle of attack impacting the same weakened point and penetration.
Weapon Suppressor
Udmurt Republic, a federal subject of Russia, is heavily industrialized with a concentration of military and defense-related concerns. The city of Izhevsk is home to Ishmash, with a long history of weapon development and manufacturing. SOTECH has seen information on a new weapon suppressor the company is offering.
Called a basic muzzle adaptor, it is comprised of several sections: the case, a separator with a bore with the sound baffles, and a connector to bridge the suppressor to the weapon muzzle. The separator baffle represents a truncated hollow cone. There were no details provided as what weapon types the suppressor was designed for but it can be assumed that it would fit most of the AK-series of weapons. ♦
